Midden-Brabant Golf and Country Club

What was the problem?

Midden-Brabant Golf and Country Club has access to a limited supply of water for sprinkling the gold course. In 2007 Greenmaker consultants discovered that the top layer of hole 5’s ‘gentlemen’s tee’ was unable to retain water. As a consequence, the grass was withered.

Unfortunately, there were additional problems, because this also produced a hard top layer, the grass could not be kept green during the summer and the grass coverage was poor (45%-65%).

What did Greenmaker achieve?

The top layer was improved by the addition of 7% Greenmaker. Homogenous mixing with the top layer was followed by levelling and sowing.

What was the effect on soil structure, cost savings and sustainability?

Greenmaker has improved the soil structure to produce a good balance between oxygen, water and nutrients. The result is good vigorous grass coverage of 85%-100%, the need for substantially less water (up to 40%) and the eradication of dry patches.
